The Accelerated 12-week EMT-Paramedic Program at McCook Community College provides training and education to develop EMT-Paramedics capable of providing emergency care to patients in and out of a hospital setting. The emerging roles and responsibilities of the EMT-Paramedic can also include public education, health promotion, and involvement in injury and illness prevention programs, and participation as an initial treatment provider.

All training follows the Department of Transportation (DOT) curriculum and instructional guidelines.

Upon completion of the in-class work, students are required to complete the training in a clinical/field environment.

Upon successful completion of training the student is eligible to sit for the National Registry Paramedic Exam. Prerequisites

The student must be able to prove through valid credentials that they have completed an EMT-Basic program prior to admission.

The student must be 18 years of age prior to National Registry testing.

Once admitted into the MCC Accelerated EMT-Paramedic program, a criminal background check will be conducted by a certified agency.
